  • Executive MBA, IIM Kozhikode
  • Incubation Manager, AIC IIIT Kottayam

Story angles

If you’re covering Indian EdTech or higher education, these are angles where we have first-hand data and can speak to specifics.

  • Distance education is bigger than India admits.

IGNOU alone serves 3M+ students annually. Indian distance + open learning is ~1/10th of all higher-ed enrolment and growing. alamaaraa is one of the only EdTechs built primarily for this audience — not for the K-12 / JEE / NEET market most India EdTech chases.

  • EdTech without VC pressure — built around a Telegram-first community.

Most EdTech in India scales on ad spend and live-class subscriptions. alamaaraa scales on word-of-mouth via Telegram communities, a low-CAC model with closer student retention. Worth contrasting with the typical Byju's / Unacademy growth motif.

  • Vernacular AI tutoring for the languages mainstream EdTech ignores.

alamaaraa's AI study bot supports Malayalam (currently rolling out) and English. Vernacular AI for online learning is heavily under-served and demand is concentrated in distance-education students who get little college-classroom exposure.

  • Kerala's startup ecosystem is producing real founders, not just press releases.

alamaaraa was incubated at the MG University Innovation Foundation and received Kerala Startup Mission backing. A useful data point for stories on whether Kerala's startup-policy investments are converting to durable companies.
